Protecting Yourself and Your Business from Cyber Threats
Speaker: Jeffrey Haug
We rely on the Internet for communicating with friends and family, for online banking, shopping, entertainment, and more. As the usefulness of the Internet has increased so has the risks that come from using it. Nearly every week we read about new data breaches, cyber attacks, or other online threats.
Although large attacks attract lots of media attention, thousands of smaller business are attacked each day. During this talk we will look at some common types of online threats and how to protect ourselves from them.
Jeffrey Haug started working with computers early. In grammar school, he learned to program a personal computer, and in high school ran a computer bulletin board from his basement. Jeffrey earned a degree in Computer Information Systems from Southern Oregon University. For 18 years, Jeffrey has been running a boutique web-development company called HoZt. He now specializes in compliance with Security and Payment Card Industry (PCI) standards for small businesses.
