Connection and Conflict Skills for Every Table

with Makayla Boscia,
Resolve Center for Dispute Resolution
and Restorative Justice

________

Navigating conflicts in business relationships isn’t all that different from navigating potentially spicy conversations at the holiday table. The holidays are supposed to be joyful, but sometimes they bring out the tension along with the turkey. Maybe it’s that one relative who won’t stop talking about politics, or the awkward silence when someone brings up a touchy subject. Sound familiar? Wouldn't you rather just enjoy the turkey and the pie?

Conflict doesn’t have to ruin the meal - or the deal. With a little humor, curiosity, and a few simple tools, we can turn tricky conversations into opportunities for connection and understanding.

Join us for this month’s program and learn:

  • Simple listening and communication strategies to defuse tension before it boils over
  • How to set boundaries gracefully to build connection instead of shutting people down
  • Ways to use conflict as a doorway to stronger, more resilient relationships
  • How to recognize the “holiday dinner triggers” that also show up in business relationships.
  • Phrases you can keep in your back pocket to keep conversations on track

About Makayla Boscia:

Makayla Boscia is the Director of Operations at Resolve Center for Dispute Resolution and Restorative Justice, a local nonprofit that helps people handle conflict in workplaces, schools, neighborhoods, and the justice system. She first got interested in conflict communication growing up in an intercultural household, where she saw how misunderstandings could either push people apart or bring them closer together. Now from the perspective of a mediator, Makayla brings humor, warmth, and practical tools to make tough conversations feel less overwhelming.
